Origin Day: 24 November 2009
On 24 November 2009, it was the 150th Anniversary of Charles Darwin publishing Origin of Species - or, its full original title On The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection or the Preservation of Favoured Races in the Struggle for Life.

*Note to pedants: yes, we know that Charles was only 50 when he published Origin, yet the picture shows him with a full beard which he did not grow until he was at least 55. One of the reasons we chose beardy Charles is that in the source photograph, he looks very much like his statue outside Shrewsbury Library, formerly Shrewsbury School, which Darwin attended. And now the location of our rehearsal space. So that's why.
